WHAT IS INITIAL BASIC TRAINING?
Initial Basic Training (IBT) is a mandatory motorcycle training that teaches the basic skills to learner motorcyclists. It is part of the RSA’s Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) scheme and is intended to improve road safety.
New motorcycle Learner Permit holders are required to attend and pass the IBT training course. These rules came into effect in January 2013 for th e4 categories of motorcycle licences – AM, A1, A2 & A.
When you have completed your IBT course, your instructor will record the details of your training in your logbook and issue you with a Certificate of Satisfactory Completion.
